The cottage is part of a terrace of whitewashed cottages and is approached down a side entrance with the front door at the far end.
The house is a typical country cottage in style with creamy neutral walls contrasting with exposed wooden doors, banisters, thresholds and some windows sills throughout. It benefits from oil fired central heating and modern radiators in most rooms. There is also UPVC double glazing.
Step Inside and you find yourself in the kitchen with its lovely hand-made wooden units painted a delicate sky-blue offset by an oiled oak worktop. There is a deep butler sink and a range of under counter cupboards with some shelving and a range of hanging hooks above for utensils, pot and pans. On the floor are handsome large slate tiles. There is ample space for all your appliances, including an alcove fora freestanding cooker with a built-in extractor above.
Directly opposite the front door, across the walkway, is a useful shed with plumbing for a washing machine and room for other appliances plus storage for wood and coal.
The cottage is interestingly arranged with left and right staircases at either end leading to bedrooms above. From the kitchen is one of the two staircases with cupboards underneath. These carpeted stairs lead upstairs to two bedrooms and a bathroom. Both bedrooms are carpeted – one is a good sized double and overlooks the back garden and there’s a single at the front with window seat and handy shelf.
The bathroom on this side of the house comprises a white suite with bath and shower over, basin and WC. There is a handy mirrored wooden bathroom cabinet and corner shelves for storage and wood effect vinyl floor.
The kitchen flows into the sitting room. This is a dual aspect room allowing in natural light especially from the patio doors which open out onto the enclosed garden.
The sitting room itself is a good-sized square room with a central cast iron wood burning stove with traditional stone surround and wood effect vinyl flooring.
A door from this room leads to a lovely old-fashioned pantry with a range of wooden shelves and slate floor and window to the back garden.
From the sitting room a door leads to another room which could easily be a study, dining room or fifth bedroom. One end is carpeted and has windows overlooking the back garden and is a lovely light and bright space. The other end has a wood effect vinyl floor and there are some interesting original features, including exposed brick walls, the remains of an original clome and bread oven in one corner and a storage cupboard embedded in the chimney breast.
From this room the other staircase leads to rooms above at this end of house with some useful shelves above as you ascend. From the landing there are two further carpeted bedrooms and an upstairs cloakroom with basin and WC. The double bedroom is beamed and overlooks the back garden and a smaller bedroom to front has both a skylight and side window.
Step outside through the patio doors from the sitting room to the paved patio area – ideal for al fresco dining and BBQ’s with a wooden picnic table to one side. From here three steps lead to a lawned area – enclosed by small fence. There is an attractive mix of shrubs and plants. There is an allotment area to one side owned by the next-door neighbours and applicants should note that both sets of next-door neighbours have right of way across No.3’s garden. There is a configuration of three garden sheds for storage and a small gate to fields beyond.
PEACH THOUGHTS: This is truly delightful character cottage in a lovely setting. With its quirky layout and wealth of traditional features it oozes character. We feel the versatile accommodation lends itself perfectly to family life and the garden with view across fields just adds to its appeal.
